Microsoft didn’t release a new operation system to create a new user experience like
Mac OS X did. Six years later Windows Vista (2007) was released to catch up to Mac OS
X. If you compare both you find many similar features. Microsoft was sure that it
would be a big success. Many RAM manufactures started producing a huge number of
these memory sticks. But many users wanted to stick at Windows XP because they
adapted to it so it hadn’t the awaited success. The RAM needed for Vista wasn’t
bought in the high number they were produced. With the time it got cheap and many
extended their RAM up to 4GB. Due to the 32 Bit addressing of the widespread
Windows XP 32Bit only 2.8 Gigabytes could be addressed. With the next Windows
“Windows 7” Microsoft wants to convince the XP users to buy a new version of their
operation system.
It is important to say that Mac OS including Mac OS X only runs on Mac Computers
which are exclusively produced by Apple unlike to Windows which runs on nearly
every computer today. Apple sticks to high quality computers which are double the
expensive to normal personal computers.
In my opinion Mac OS X is the better operation system if you abandon the fact that it
only runs on Macs and those are expensive. You can easily do what you want to
without clicking through thousands of menus. A nice feature is the “Automator” which
allows people who cannot program to create scripts just by clicking events and by
programs supplied features together to automate routine jobs.
I think Windows is too complicated for first time users and you need much time to
make use this operation system due to that, that many functions are nearly hidden to
the user and difficult to find.
