Windows 3.0 (1990)
Windows
3.0
was
the
first
Windows which had a big success.
More than ten million exemplars
were sold till today and two million
of that within the first six weeks.
With this version of Windows
Microsoft introduced the VGA
Standard (Resolution of 640x480
pixels and 16 colours) into their
OS. Windows 3.0 got a different
colour scheme and many 3D icons.
Also “solitaire”, a popular card
game, was include.
Windows 3.1x (1992)
Windows 3.1 was sold three million
times in the first two month. Although
it was a small change in name it has
many new features such as “Drag and
Drop”
and
many
multimedia
programs. You were able to watch
movies and hear digital music. With
“Drag and Drop” you were able to
grab an icon in one window and drop
it into other windows. For example
copying files from one location to
another like in the picture on the right
side. Windows 3.1 was much more
colourful because it supported a higher resolution of 800x600 pixels and 65536
